Conservation of the Apaporis River area, Pacoa - Vaupes, Colombia
INMENSO has been protecting these forests and their biodiversity, using its own resources to implement different conservation measures such as: monitoring and control of environmental crimes in the project area, establishing surveillance posts in the area, patrolling a territorial security team, work with surrounding communities to improve sustainable management capacities, among others.

Vaupés is a department of Southeastern Colombia in the jungle covered Amazonas Region. It is in the southeast part of the country, bordering Brazil to the east, the department of Amazonas to the south, Caquetá to the west, and Guaviare, and Guainía to the north, covering a total area of 54,135 km2. Its capital is the town of Mitú.
The Pacoa Corregimiento is in the southwest area of the Vaupés Department. Its head town is Buenos Aires.

Artibeus-Obscurus / SINCHI
There are almost 500 bats of 41 different species that eat fruits, insects and flowers. In fact, 60% of the species that were found are new records for the Vaupes and one (the Lonchorchia Orinocensis) only lives in the hills of Morroco.
